This describes what the Helpcheckout app actually collects today, who else processes it, and how to get it removed. It is written in plain language on purpose.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a hashed password. If you turn on two factor authentication, the secret that makes your codes work.
- Cart photos. The photo you take at checkout, plus the crops cut from it. These are sent to the services listed below so the items can be identified.
- Cart and payment records. The items matched to your cart, the prices, the totals, your wallet balance and your transaction history.
- Corrections. When you fix a line the scanner got wrong, we record what it picked and what you chose instead, so the matching improves.
- Store selection. The store you pick, and the search text or location you used to find it.
We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not run third party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent anything on this list.
Who else processes it
Running the scanner means sending parts of your data to other companies. These are all of them:
- Supabase stores the database and handles authentication and password reset email.
- Anthropic and Replicate and Hugging Face receive cart photos and crops to detect and identify products.
- Kroger receives product codes so we can look up product details and prices. It does not receive your identity.
- Plaid handles bank linking if you fund your wallet that way. Your bank credentials go to Plaid and are never seen or stored by us.
- Google Places receives store search text so you can find a store near you.
- Vercel hosts the site and the server.
How long we keep it
Account details, cart records and transaction history are kept while your account exists. Cart photos and their crops are kept only as long as the scan needs them and are not retained as a photo library. Correction records are kept without your identity attached to them.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from Settings inside the app, which removes your account details, wallet balance and transaction history. If you would rather we did it, or you want a copy of what we hold first, write to and a person will handle it.
Security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form. Sessions use signed tokens that expire. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Your wallet balance is held and changed only on the server, never trusted from your device.
Children
Helpcheckout is not built for children and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13.
Changes
If this changes we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.
